We received a cap from the prestigious Gault & Millau gastronomic guide
We are proud to announce that La Hospoda restaurant in Karlovy Vary has been awarded a cap by Gault & Millau – one of the world’s most influential gastronomic guides, which introduced its second edition in the Czech Republic this year.
Winning a place on the “yellow guide” map is not just about luck, but about honest work, which is carefully monitored by anonymous commissioners. What exactly does this award mean and why do we value it so much?
What is the Gault & Millau and how is it judged?
Founded in 1969, the French guide Gault & Millau is known for its emphasis on modern gastronomy and the discovery of new talent. Unlike other rankings, it doesn’t just look for luxury, but for character and quality.
The judges’ evaluation is comprehensive and rigorous. It’s not just about what you get on your plate, but about the overall harmony of your visit. They look at the quality of the food, its presentation and the originality of the flavours that form the core of the dining experience. However, the quality of service, the atmosphere of the establishment and the overall impression the restaurant leaves on you compared to the price are equally important.
Restaurants can earn points, which are converted into symbolic chef’s caps (toques). For us at La Hospoda, earning a toque is a confirmation that our concept makes sense – we cook great food, the service is attentive and you feel good.
Thanks to the chef and the team
No award lands in the kitchen by itself. It comes from hard work, hours of preparation and a passion for the craft.
A huge thank you and respect goes to our chef Petr Šárkozi.
Petr is not only the author of our menu, but above all a leader, a daily inspiration and a solid support for the whole team. It is his handwriting and leadership that has brought us to the pages of this prestigious guide. We are incredibly proud of him and the whole La Hospoda crew!
A big thank you to you – our guests
Although we appreciate the recognition from international critics immensely, the most important jury for us is you. Your returning footsteps, empty plates and satisfied smiles are the main reason we do this.
Thank you for being part of our story. This hat belongs to you too!
We look forward to seeing you at La Hospoda!
